Happy New Year! 2021 is now upon us. I have to say that there is a little part of me that feels like this year will be better than last. Just a glimmer of hope, I guess.

As the new year was drawing closer, I started to think about the whole idea of resolutions. In the past, I would make resolutions to lose weight, exercise, or simply change my mindset. Did any of those really work? Maybe a handful of times, yes. But who’s to say that you have to wait for the new year to work on changing yourself for the better.

It’s odd to me but for some reason this year I am viewing resolutions differently. I’m not making any. Not one. If I want to make a change for myself I can do that at any time.

I think people feel pressured in a way to come up with something to do to better themselves or their lives. They feel that starting with a new year will make that change happen or make it easier. It will feel great for the first few weeks or even months, but 9 times out of 10, they will fail. That’s just how it is.

I can’t believe it has taken me this long to come to that realization but I can say that I have. Today will be just another day for me. I woke up the same way I woke up yesterday morning and am happy. No pressure and no stress put upon me. When I feel like changing something in my life, I will, no matter when that is.

What about you? Do you make resolutions every year? If so, are you successful?
