ASMR? What the heck is that, you ask? Just about the best thing ever. No, seriously, ASMR is amazing! It stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. It’s a tingly sensation that you feel in your scalp and other places. They say it’s similar to those scalp massagers. Once I discovered it, I never looked back.

How did I discovery it?

Well, I am always looking for different ways to relax. My usual go to is a hot bath, reading, or just spending time by myself. One day, I was thinking about how much I enjoy the sound of someone crinkling paper or searching through papers. Whenever I have been around something like that, I could just close my eyes, listen, and relax. I thought I was weird but there are so many people that feel the same way.

So one day while I was in the tub listening to some music, I decided to look on YouTube to see if there were any kind of videos like that of people searching through papers, etc. That was it. From then on, my life changed. 😉 Did I find those videos of people searching through papers? Yes, but with that, I discovered a whole new world. The ASMR world.

At first, I thought, oh my goodness, is this some sort of sexual fetish. (haha) It’s not. There are certain things that trigger what they call “tingles” in the ASMR community. That can be whispers, tapping on items, personal attention(talking closely to the camera), etc. I never get “tingles” from ASMR videos but they do relax me. 90% of the time I fall asleep. My favorite videos are tapping, hands down. I love it!!

There are all sorts of videos out there of tapping. People tap on all sorts of items, too. Here is a list of my favorite ASMRists.

  • Gibi
  • Bitty ASMR
  • Gentle Whispering
  • Latte
  • Batala’s ASMR

They upload videos several times a week so there is always something new to watch. Many have added a lot of role-play videos over the years and I’m just not into those. But, every now and then they will throw in a tapping video and I’m all ears. 😉

If you have not tried ASMR before, I highly recommend it. It truly does take you to a place of relaxation. I have thought about making my own videos because I find that I love to tap on items, too. The sound of certain items is amazing. I just don’t think I have the creativity that those awesome YouTubers have so for now, I will leave that world to them.

Let me know if you have ever tried ASMR before and how you liked it. Do you have a favorite ASMRist you follow? Comment below and share. I am always adding to my list. 🙂
